COMMODORES LOG
Once again I
find myself reviewing the past month since our last mission. We had quite
a good turn out for the meeting and it was great to see Bob Hedley with us
once again. He's still doing his turtle impression but we hope he is now
on the mend. It was good to see Michael with his Dad and to see Anthony
Howe back with us, after having to miss a few meetings.
We would
like to welcome new members JaLynn, Erica and Adam Hudnall. JaLynn is
going to join the Klingon contingent and become a member of the house of
loDnI. One more for the General!
A friend of Ambassador Ke'reth,
named Lee, wrote to me from Scotland and the result is, that we now have
several postal members in Scotland. We hope you can get down to see us at
some point.
Another postal member is Bethany Heard from Clacton -
some of you may remember meeting her at the Children in Need weekend in
Sudbury.
Welcome to you all.
Lee has offered to run a pen
friend page, more details in another issue.
Another innovation this
month is the USS Lutonia Page. We are doing a mutual exchange of
Newsletter pages and a joint Diary. We hope that this will lead to closer
contacts between the clubs.
There has been some concern from
members about meetings not being held because of other events (brought up
at the February meeting). I would like to say that the monthly meeting is
sacrosanct. It will happen every month and all other events will be
extras.
Therefore, if you are not interested in attending an
outside or charity event you don't have to. You will not miss out on
meetings. Members can choose to support charity events only if they want
to.
Having said that, we do have some events coming up, for which
our help has been requested - See inside.
Don't forget,
April 15th Jeanette's 40th
Birthday party, plus the meeting on the 16th.
Also in
April on the 9th is the Needham Lake Walk, and on the
23rd the SCI FI CONVENTION at Hadleigh.
Guests are detailed inside.
We have been asked to provide the
Catering at the Convention - that means FREE ENTRY - and a
chance to make some money for club funds. Offers of help
please.
Don't Forget - the Ball tickets, thrift club
available, start saving now!
I look forward to seeing you all at
our New Venue in March, which is an Open Meeting.
Best wishes
Commodore Anarita Jat |

PERSONAL
LOG - 1
Captain T'Pina - First Officer Starbase
410.
Stardate: 422798.3
I am beginning to find life on Starbase 410 very
frustrating. Yes, I know Vulcans aren't supposed to have emotions but,
this may come as a surprise to many of you, we do. But because many of us
also possess telepathic abilities in varying degrees, it is considered bad
taste to broadcast our emotions in public. Not all Vulcans follow the
disciplines of Kholinahr either. Suraks' philosophies of peace and logic
are a way of life to Vulcans and for the most part are quite enough for
ordinary life.
However, what is it that I find frustrating? It's
the little things. My job here, at the Starbase is, to make sure
everything runs smoothly and efficiently. To make sure that equipment,
shuttles, weaponry, navigation, computers, security etc., etc., are where
they supposed to be and doing what they are designed to do. And to make
sure that Anarita signs the appropriate paperwork at the appropriate
times. It is my job to make sure that this Starbase is always ready for
whatever situation that may present itself. Yet everyone thinks that to
gain access to all this, they have to see the Commodore.
Why?
Perhaps I will never understand.
Most of the time the
Commodore doesn't know what facilities or equipment are available for
distribution or use by Starbase personnel and has to ask me anyway. So,
why waste her time? I find this totally illogical! Wouldn't it save time
if all those requiring said facilities/equipment came to me direct or used
the proper procedures? That is what they and I are there for.
Because of my physical limitations, I do not leave the Starbase
apart from the occasional visit to the Vulcan Medical facility for
treatment. This is why I was assigned here. So that, no matter where
everyone else goes, the Starbase still functions.
Take the other
day for example. The Klingon Ambassador wanted a shuttle for a special
mission. Who did he go to? Yep, you guessed it, the Commodore. But,
because she had only just returned from one of her own missions, she had
no idea which shuttles were available or suitable for his request.
Therefore, she had to ask me. But because I was in the cargo bay,
supervising a recent delivery of much needed spare parts, I could not give
her an answer straight away as the information could not be accessed from
where I was. Apparently the Ambassador was not amused at having to wait
for his shuttle request to be processed. Later, it transpired that he had
deliberately waited for her to return before making his request. Yet, had
he taken the logical route and sent his request to me, I would have been
able to allocate the shuttle, well over 4 hours earlier!
I have
just been informed that more of our supplies, requisitions and personnel
have arrived.....

Major
Madia Amme (Written in 2376)
|
|
Madia Amme was
born to Madia Lanod and his wife Namar in the Terran year 2349 in the
Bajoran farming district known as Dahkur Province. She was their
first-born and was followed by a sister Onna. The first three years of her
life were fairly uneventful as she spent them on her parents farm, where
they eked out a meagre existence.
In 2352, the Cardassian occupiers
of Bajor seized Madia Lanod's farm and took him and his family to the ore
processing plant on Terok Nor. Here, he and his wife worked in various
capacities for the Cardassians.
By 2354 Amme, now aged five, had
found 'gainful' employment, running errands for the station's Ferengi bar
owner, Quark. This early experience of the Ferengi was to later influence
Madia Amme's life.
An accident in the ore-processing centre in 2359
left Amme and her sister orphans. The accident was caused by an electrical
discharge, which ignited a pile of raw uridium and caused an explosion in
which 27 Bajoran workers (including Lanod and Namar) were killed along
with 3 Cardassian guards. This was the one event that changed Madia Amme's
life forever. As there was no place on the station for orphans, she and
Onna were sent to an orphanage on Bajor by Gul Dukat. For first depriving
her of her parents, by allowing the negligence that caused the explosion
that killed them, and then taking her away from the only other thing she
cared about, her job at Quarks. Gul Dukat earned Madia Amme's undying
hatred.
The shuttle carrying the orphans to Bajor never completed
its journey, as the resistance shot it down. After their Cardassian guards
were killed, the children were rescued by the resistance, from a life of
almost certain servitude to the Cardassians. This gave them a chance to
reclaim their lives; their home and gain revenge for the death of their
parents at the hands of the Cardassians.
The resistance cell
responsible for the attack on the shuttle, was the renowned Shakaar
resistance cell, that was led by, the now First Minister of Bajor, Shakaar
and included the Bajoran Liason officer to Deep Space, Major Kira Nerys.
Madia remained with the resistance until the Cardassian withdrawal from
Bajor in 2369 when she was 20 years old.
Following the Cardassian
withdrawal, the forming of the Provisional Government and the arrival of
the Federation to oversee Terok Nor, now renamed Deep Space Nine, certain
trusted Bajorans were sent to other planets to learn about their economic
structure, in the hope that some of the information gained could be used
to help bring financial stability to Bajor.
Therefore, owing to her
early life experience and her, now renewed, friendship with a certain
Ferengi bartender, Madia Amme (now promoted to the rank of Major in the
Bajoran Militia) spent 6 months of her life, in 2370, on the Ferengi
homeworld of Ferenginar. Here she learned the Rules of Acquisition, which
in itself is unusual, as Ferengi women are forbiden to quote from the
rules, as they are considered second class citizens and are not even
permitted to wear clothing. Her sister, Onna, accompanied her to
Ferenginar and embraced the Rules of Acquisition with enthusiasm, Onna is
currently selling timeshare apartments on the pleasure planet
Risa.
In 2375, Madia Amme now aged 26, is permanently assigned to
Starbase 410 as Bajoran Ambassador. Madia has gained respect from the
Provisional Government and the Vedek Assembly. She is a trusted
Ambassador, Negotiator and Secret Agent. She was regularly sent on
missions into Dominion controlled space, in an attempt to rid Bajor and
Deep Space Nine of its Dominion & Cardassian "visitor" during their
brief occupation, prior to the station being retaken by the
Federation.
Madia has a very strong spritual side and is very
close to Kai Winn, having given her her full support following the loss of
Kai Opaca and the death of Opacas' favoured successor Vedek Bareil. Some
my find Winn's hard line approach a little daunting nut she is steady and
strong in her service to the Prophets. Madia finds this commitment
comforting. Although she found herself in conflict with her religion by
fighting the Dominion presence on Bajor as the Treaty was signed at the
recommendation of the Emissary, Benjamin Sisko. It is due to the support
of Kai Winn, that Madia is an Ambassador, with a lot of leeway. During the
Dominion occupation of Bajor, the Major formed an alliance with the
Klingon Ambassador to Starbase 410, which resulted in the delivery of some
Klingon Warbirds to the new Bajoran resistance, along with skeleton
Klingon creews to train the Bajoran resistance fighters in their use. This
is something to be kept from the Federation staff on the Starbase, as they
have a strict policy of non-interference called the Prime-Directive. The
Klingon High Command have no such policy. These ships will now aid Bajor
against any return threat from the Dominion and Cardassia.
Madia is
known on Starbase 410 for her outspokenness and basic lack of diplomacy.
These things are always getting her into trouble with the station
Commodore, Annarita Jat (a Trill). One such instance is her remark about
the subjugation of Ferengi women to her Klingon friend K'iHQaS, which
K'iHQaS repeated to the Grand Nagus, almost causing a diplomatic incident
between Ferenginar and Bajor. Only due to the swift intervention of the
Commodore was this prevented.

WEBLEY
THE SPIDER
|
|
|
|
FROM THE
DESK OF THE KLINGON AMBASSADOR
nuqneH
(Greetings), from the Empire.
The memory of you all, sings in blood. I
feel it is time to tell you what it means to me to be a Klingon
Warrior....
Worf once said. "It is not enough just to look like a
Klingon, one must act like a Klingon."
We are a people of contradictions. On one hand, we are
proud warriors, conquerors, wolves among sheep. We are the top predators
in the food chain. But that's only one side of the DarSeQ (unit of Klingon
currency - It's a small triangular Latinum coin, worth about one fifth
of a Slip of Latinum). No race can be truly understood until you have
seen all sides of it's people. To illustrate my point, I will use an old
Terran, Native American saying, "You can never understand a man, until you
have walked a mile in his moccassins".
It is for this reason I have
listed a number of common proverbs, saying and idioms:-
The first is the infamous and oft quoted:
Heghlu'meH
QaQ jajvam
It's a good day to die |
Please remember,
this is not a self defeatist attitude. It literally is an acceptance
of the old adage - if you live by the sword, you'll die
by the sword - It is an acceptance of the fact that a warrior
will live and die, for his/her beliefs. |
potlhbe'chugh yay qatlh pe''eghlu
If winning
is not important, then why keep score.
|
This refers
to the Klingon attitude to winning at all costs. We play to
win, not for the fun of taking part. So remember, if you play
with Klingons, it's a no holds barred event.... |
bImejDI'
reH betleHilj yItlhap
Never
leave home without your Bat'leth
|
This is
a good one. To a Klingon, it reminds us of who we are, to be
ready to be a Klingon at all times. |
jach SuvwI'
'e'yIQoy
Hear
the warrior cry out
|
This is
a reminder, for all warriors to strive for the Klingon ideal
of Honour and to follow the dictates of Klingon Society. |
vay' DaneHbogh
yIchargh
Conquer what you desire
|
This saying
could be said to encompass the Klingon attitude to life. You
could read this as 'take what you can (or will) from life'. |
meQtaHbogh
qachDaq Suv qoH neH
Only
a fool fights in a burning house
|
Even a Klingon
realises that there are times - not to fight. |
Qu'Daj ta'taHvISHegh
'e' tul Hoch tlhIngan
To die
in the line of duty is the hope of every Klingon
|
This refers
to the Klingon Martial Society, placing the highest honours
upon those who die serving it. |
not lay'Ha'
tlhIngan
No Klingon
ever breaks his word
|
A Klingon
Warrior should hold to the ideals of truth and honour. A Klingons
life is over if he has been found to be lying. |
'etlh QorghHa'lu'chugh
ragh 'etlh nIvqu' 'ej jejHa'choH
Even
the best sword will rust and grow dull, unless it is cared
for
|
The refers,
not only to the sword, but to the warrior's physical and mental
health. All must be kept sharp. |
bInajtaHvIS qeylIS Daghomjaj
May
you encounter Kahless in your dreams
|
This is
often said when two warriors part. It's also used by parents
to their children and by ghojmoqpu' (nursemaids/nannies) when
putting the children in their care to bed. In this case it becomes
'Dream well'. Alternatively you could just say:
maj ram (goodnight).
Other greetings
are:
maj jaj
- (Good Day)
maj po - (Good Morning)
maj dunqluq - (Good Afternoon)

EPISODE
REVIEW
EYE OF THE NEEDLE
SYNOPSIS
The crew discover a wormhole, which is unfortunately
in the late stages of decay, however Harry and Torres find a way of
sending a subspace message and discover a Romulan vessel on the receiving
end.
****************
Whilst eagerly awaiting the arrival of
Season 6 premiere on video, I resorted to watching some season 1 episodes,
and what a treat that was. Once you got passed Paris' ridiculous hairstyle
and Torres' stiff/rigid makeup I became quite nostalgic for this crew
that I fell in love with 5 years ago.
It was great to see the Captain with that bun of steel and the hands
on hips stance. Now Janeway may have become much more relaxed in the
way she acts on the bridge and I think it says a great deal for Kate's
skills that she still manages to portray a commanding air, but sadly
she has become much harder. Where are the gentle touches on Paris'
shoulder the motherly smile she gives Harry?
Anyway I'm digressing slightly, so back to the episode. I actually
like wimpy Harry in this. You could feel his eagerness to discover
a way home and it was good that Janeway didn't try to curb his enthusiasm
as Tuvok requested.
I loved Janeway in this. Kate has a very expressional face and Rick
Kolbe certainly took advantage of this in the way he directed the
episode. (I hadn't realised until this point, that I had missed Kolbes
style of direction and it's such a shame he only does a few episodes
now).
Most notable scenes were, in her quarters when she had finished talking
to the Romulan and she gazed out of the window. In her ready room,
after Torres had told her there was a possibility they could transport
the crew back to the Alpha Quadrant. When she picked up the picture
of Mark and the final scene, just after the Romulan had transported
back to his ship, and Tuvok broke the bad news to her.
One of my favourite scenes was on the bridge, when Janeway was trying
to persuade the Romulan Captain to send messages from the crew to
Starfleet. Kate played this with such feeling and it always amazes
me that they can portray this feeling, when they're acting to a blank
screen!
The story moved along smoothly and it was a real shock when we found
that the Romulan was from 50 years in the past. You could see the
distress on both Harry's and Janeway’s face when Tuvok informed
them, that Telek Ramor had actually died 4 years before Voyager was
lost in the Badlands.
There were many good things to this episode but to me the best was
the fact that there was NO BORG BABE!!!

FROM USS
LUTONIA
Welcome to all members of
Starbase 410 from
What is going on here you may well ask yourselves.
Have we been assimilated by the Lutonia? The answer is no of course
you haven't. This is a bold new idea for two clubs, such as ours,
to show something that no other clubs in the country have yet to achieve.
Due to constant bickering about who has the best club in the UK, and
who is better than who. Who cares as long as we all have fun and,
that as far as I am aware, no one else will achieve what we have achieved
so far between us. Namely a good friendship and good awareness of
each other.
For me personally, Starbase 410 has been growing on me ever since
we met. And I just wish you didn't all have to live so far away in
the Delta Quadrant, or is it us, hard to remember after so much Romulan
Ale.
Well, I hear you say, stop waffling on and tell us what the Lutonia
has been up to, apart from partying! Well, just recently, we embarked
on a Ferengi mission to set up trade with local commerce. An away
team, including myself, had a free dinner and drink with members of
the Round Table before assimilation took place. The result being more
funding for us and we are on the Christmas Float next Christmas ho!
ho!
We are also playing a major part in the Luton Carnival on May 31st
and have been invited to have either a float or a walking entry. Bearing
in mind this is the second biggest Carnival in the Country and means
massive publicity for any Club taking part. Now we have a mission
to assimilate that first prize, for best newcomers, from other groups
taking part. But although we will all be in a uniform of some kind
we need that final touch - Klingons, our one klingon cannot make it
and in order for resistance to become futile, we need Klingons, Borgs
and Starbase volunteers to help our cause. This would be a joint mission
and of course we would expect to help your causes as well, if needed,
in return. Collections would be for charity.
We are also going to sink the opposition fleets at the Bedford River
Raft Race on Sunday 30th May. Our plan is a simple one. As we have
no chance of winning, we will aim our "boat" across the bows of other
heat racers and loaded up with eggs and flour secretly hidden. We
will simply assimilate the other racers or blow them out of the water!
Of course we will get disqualified and incur a fine for charity, but
who cares. We would have lived up to our nickname of the "mad hatters".
If you are going on that date, some vocal support would be nice. Of
course, should you enter our heat yourselves, I cannot accept responsibility
for the loss of your vessel.
Of course, the Lutonia is also going to the dome on June 25th and
we have a 53 seater coach booked. And we are sending an away team
to the American Theme Park in Ilkston Derbyshire. The Lutonia, as
you know, does hold Bi-monthly club events and at our next one, on
Friday 24th March, we will be holding a Science Fiction Auction as
well as games and other items. Hopefully our own Club shop will be
up and running by then and there will be other shops in attendance.
Entrance to non-members is £3 adults and £1 children though I may
wish to review this for Starbase members, later in the year, to allow
you the same entry rates as Lutonia Club Members, which would be nice.
Firstly, we must take one step at a time I hear Ann muttering.
All our larger events are taking place at the Naval Club in Crawley
Green Road, Luton and run from 8pm to around 11pm usually. It has
it's own 'Ten Forward' with funny bar staff but no funny hats! And
has a good selection of drinks. The Lutonia also holds other events
on a smaller scale in between the larger events, such as, Classic
Science Fiction evenings. Showing anything from Gerry Anderson to
classic B movies and drinking to help that crap film look good. We
also have Future events where our contact in America sends us videos
of the latest, unseen over here, episodes and lastly we have comedy
sci fi events which also involve drinking, drinking and lastly drinking,
oh yes, not forgetting comedy games and videos.
This year we are also having a beach party disco on the 21st July
and a Rocky Horror evening in September, where I get to dye my hair
green and wear my old Punk Rocker clothes from the 1970's again, moth
holes permitting of course.
Anyway that's all for this month hope you enjoyed it and hopefully
I will see you all next month.
Admiral Andrew Fazekas

PERSONAL
LOG - 2
Engineering Personnel Lt. Commander
Saryena Remora:
Entry 1
Here, I enter my inaugural contribution, as
a new member of Starbase 410, to the Introductory Personal Log archive,
kept for reference to the backgrounds of each new Officer who boards this
station.
My name is Saryena. I am one quarter Vulcan, one quarter
human, two quarters Trill, and I am joined to the symbiont Remora. I am
Remora’s 5th host; two of the past hosts were male, the other
two female, as am I.
Remora’s first host was an esteemed
23rd Century Stellar Cartographist, named Zen. Who served
aboard the Constitution class Starship Enterprise, under the command of
the legendary Captain James T. Kirk, for two tours of his duty as a
Starfleet officer. Zen, left the Enterprise shortly after the V’ger
incident, taking up the post offered to him as Captain of a research
vessel. There, he met Karessa Lumari (of Betazed), the lady whom, just
five years later, after leaving service under his command, became his wife
& lifelong companion. It was at this time that Karessa was appointed
head of Starfleet Academy’s Stellar Cartography department in San
Francisco, Earth. This left them free to enter into the relationship.
Between them they produced two sons and one daughter, Yedrin, Emony, and
Norvo. Their relationship was strong enough in the bond it created, that
after Zen Remora died 40 years into their marriage. Karessa never sought
any new relationships, preferring to live with the comfort the memories,
she and her husband created, as her source of contentment, rather than
seeking that same contentment again with another partner. Karessa was one
of the few non-Trill, who lived at this point in time, who knew of the
true symbiotic nature of her husband, and those of his race. This would
not become public knowledge for some time yet.
Remora’s
2nd host was a female Trill, named Hanila. She became joined
shortly after her 25th Birthday, and remained so for another 35
years, when she died unexpectedly from a virus. Which she caught while
touring the war torn planet of Miral. She is fondly remembered as an
accomplished diplomat in the history books. Miral is now free of the virus
that tragically took Hanila’s life. It was a by-product of the genetic
warfare used in Miral’s, long since past, civil war. Her death was not in
vain, as it brought about the motivation needed to put a stop, once and
for all, to this rather horrific war. Visitors to the Beta Quadrant planet
today, can go to Hanila’s Garden of Peace and Remembrance to see a plaque,
which was erected shortly after the end of the war. In memory and honour
of Hanila Remora, and all others who were tragic victims of Miral’s civil
war.
My symbiont’s 3rd host was a man named Torias. He was named
after an ancestor of his, who died in his effort to be the first man to
reach Warp 10, during the era of transwarp’s first trials. So inspired was
he, by the stories he was told in childhood of his brave ancestor Torias
Dax. (Later hosted by two very famous and eminent Starfleet Officers,
Jadzia, and then, after her tragic death at the hands of war criminal Gul
Dukat, Ezri Dax, formerly Ezri Tigan of the U.S.S Destiny). He became
a pilot himself.
Torias Remora was a successful, and highly
respected pilot, who, thankfully, unlike his ancestor, lived to be a very
old man, and told his children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren
respectively, down through the generations, of the hero he was named
after.
Remora’s 4th host, another female, was Betalia
Remora. She brought to her symbiont a great knowledge of and practical
ability for, the field of Botany. She was part of the Research team who
dedicated her entire career to surveying, restoring, maintaining, and
exploring, the Tenaran Ice Cliffs of her home world. She was the mother of
four children; Janel, Bezaal, Lela, and Nilani (whose symbiont is now
hosted by Dr. Lenara Khan, who was the wife of Torias Dax, whom my
symbiont’s 3rd host was named after). Her husband, and the
father of her aforementioned offspring was another joined Trill, Vian
Jenar.
Saryena of Vulcan (host chronological age 30 terran years).
I am my symbiont’s 5th host, and now, I shall tell you a little
about my background, and myself. Being of such mixed heritage as I am, (I
remind you; one quarter Vulcan, one quarter human, and two quarters Trill)
has not stopped me from fulfilling one of my goals, to be joined, as I now
am. It has certainly helped me, having in mind all these different and
sometimes conflicting perspectives, to fulfil another of my goals: to
become a Starfleet Engineering Officer. I grew up on Vulcan, the
birthplace of my father Sharn, a Vulcan Science Academy Lecturer, whose
diplomat father, Saren, was Vulcan, and whose mother, Olivia, was human.
My mother (joined Trill), Te’ana Aimar, has lived with my father on Vulcan
all their married life. They met when her career as a College Lecturer
took her on an exchange programme, to my father’s work place. Her Trill
physiology, and natural preference for cooler temperatures than Vulcan has
to offer, has not always made her choice a comfortable one to bear, but
she has always said she would make the choice all over again to be with my
father. She and father have two children other than myself, both male. My
brother, Sarek, a Healer, is five years older than my self. My brother,
Sharnas, is 4 years younger than I. (His name was chosen partly because
it bore close resemblance to our father’s, and partly, because my mother
had heard and liked it just a few weeks before my younger brother’s
birth).
Sharnas is successfully training to become the
family’s second Starfleet Officer. His chosen field is History, and he
specialises in Archaeology. He is a second year cadet and his current
training post is aboard the Enterprise E. He is a very promising young
talent.
End Introductory Personal Log of Lt. Commander Saryena
Remora.
Engineering Personnel Lt.Cmdr. Saryena Remora:
Entry 2
Now that I am off duty, I have just received a communiqué
from my younger brother Sharnas. In it, he details a story he learned
today, as a member of the Enterprise E’s History Department.
He was helping to research and catalogue the history of the people
of Katan, who all died when their planet’s sun went nova thousands
of years ago. He told me how, today, he learned that his own Captain,
Jean-Luc Picard, of Lebarre, France experienced the life memories
of one of Katan’s inhabitants, a man named Kamin.
Kamin is also the name of one of my Trill cousins. He is no relation
to the man whose home world died, so long ago. My cousin Kamin is
an un-joined Trill, who works as part of the "rebuild Cardassia" workforce.
He is not a Starfleet officer, but was drafted in to help, because
of his extensive knowledge and experience with architecture of all
kinds, including Cardassian.
Kamin’s parents are Tobin and Neema. My aunt, Neema, is a joined
Trill, whose symbiont is named Odala. She is Odala’s 10th
host. My uncle, Tobin, works for the Symbiosis Commission, tending
to the un-joined symbionts in the cavern pools. He is a rare member
of this usually shy group of Trill, because he has regular contact
with the outside world. He was also lucky enough to be chosen as an
advisor to the TSC, and this is where he met my mother's sister. Neema
& Tobin have another son, older than Kamin. His name is Rafi,
and he is the head of a spacecraft design facility for Starfleet.
The facility is on Lunar, (Earth’s one moon) and is very near
Lake Armstrong.
I must end this log now, as I have agreed to meet my colleagues, Anarita
Jat, and T’Pina, to share a meal with them, and talk about some
of this busy day’s events.
